The Engagement
(written by my husband)
Jude and I are completely in love. We’d been talking about getting married for a while, and I’d even taken her ring shopping once (I’d been quite a few times without her knowing too). I had asked, and received, her dad’s blessing at the beginning of August 09. I had bought the ring about 2 weeks earlier, and had it hidden in one of my comic book boxes; I was sure she wouldn't find it.
Dragon*Con was now here, which is where we met last year. On Saturday night, we were wandering around the con like normal, and I asked Jude to come with me to recreate our first meeting, where we first took a picture, in the lobby of the Marriott. Now, Dragon*Con has a huge crowd just standing around in the Marriott lobby at night, just taking pictures of people’s costumes and generally hanging out. So we go back to where we first met, and I had my friend take my camera to get a picture of us. We pose for the picture, and I turn to her and say, “So you’ll love me forever?” “Forever.” she says. (I had a speech I was going to improvise at this time.) I end up just saying “Judith…..” and dropping to a knee with the ring box out. With this, a circle formed around us very quickly, and people are taking our picture, and watching. Jude was surprised, and was getting all shaky and flustered, in the good way. After a bit of this (I was enjoying the attention), I tell her she has to say something, and she says “Yes!” The crowd cheers, and I put the ring on her finger. I then hug her and pick her up, we’re both so happy. The crowd cheers again.
It was such a wonderful moment; I’m glad it happened exactly like it did, I’ll never forget it.
Our Wedding
We had a destination wedding in the country of El Salvador in Central America. It was an amazing adventure in a different world, we had our ceremony and reception at a beautiful house on the side of a volcano. I am especially thankful for my parents who planned and created such a beautiful day for us. I will never forget it.
The Honeymoon
We drove a couple hours to the coast to spend our honeymoon at an all inclusive resort called Decameron Salanitas. We spent the week sleeping, swimming and on random adventures.
